Motor Vehicle Accidents Leave 2 Injured In San Jose
Christian J. Amendt

A wrong-way driver in San Jose reportedly caused one of the year’s most serious motor vehicle accidents when two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision. The crash occurred during the early morning hours on Dec. 28, when the wrong-way drunk driver in a Volkswagen Golf struck a Chevrolet Aveo head-on in a center lane on Interstate 280. The crash caused the victims’ vehicle to flip onto its roof after striking the center median. The at-fault driver’s car was then rear-ended by another vehicle.

The 23-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was transported to local medical facilities. Authorities described her injuries as serious, but not life-threatening. The driver of the Volkswagen also suffered injuries and was transported to the local hospital. That defendant remains hospitalized for her injuries, but she has been officially accused of driving under the influence in this California collision.

The defendant in this case could be facing far more than just criminal charges, largely because she left one of her victims with medical expenses. The victim in this case was innocently driving down the road when she was struck by the defendant’s vehicle — she should not be held responsible for the financial burden associated with her medical costs.

Victims in this type of crash should not have to pay for the negligence of another — nor should they be bullied into too-low settlements because of an overly aggressive insurance company. These victims deserve to get the financial compensation they need to pay for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other related costs. A qualified personal injury attorney can provide valuable support throughout the civil proceedings, allowing the victims to receive the compensation they need to get back to normal life as quickly as possible.
