Premises liability extends to personal property owners

If a handyman or other professional gets hurt at a private house, can the homeowner be held responsible? In many California premises liability cases, workers suffer injury and are not able to recover damages because property owners carry inadequate homeowners' insurance. Liability coverage for homeowners in the state is often too low, leaving victims with no choice but to seek legal help. With insurance companies that are resistant to paying victims under all circumstances, an underinsured homeowner can be a big obstacle to getting the money you need.

Commercial truck accident in San Bernardino County

On May 10, 2017, a motorist collided with a tractor-trailer on a freeway in San Bernardino County. According to The Sun, the driver of the car experienced pain and went to the hospital. While the exact cause of the crash has not been reported, it is one local example of a dangerous truck accident.

News: ADHD medication could prevent 1/5th of car accidents

There may be a new way to lower car crash rates in California and other states - simply make sure that people are properly medicated. A new study shows that drivers with ADHD who receive appropriate medication may be far less likely to cause car accidents than their unmedicated counterparts. Previous academic studies have shown that these drivers are more likely to cause wrecks because of impulse control and difficulty concentrating. Up to about 20 percent of car accidents could be avoided with better medication for ADHD drivers.

Firefighter beats insurer in premises liability case

A firefighter who fell through a glass panel while fighting a New Jersey blaze will have the accident covered by the building's insurer. An appeals court ruled that the insurance carrier must provide coverage for the firefighter in the premises liability case, even though the building owner was responsible for maintaining the roof where the accident occurred. The insurer had argued that the building owner, NSPC, was solely responsible for the accident and attempted to deny the company's claim.

Truck causes motor vehicle accident, drags sedan for miles

If you are a California resident, you may have already seen the alarming video footage of a commercial vehicle dragging a personal car down the highway after a truck accident. In one of the most publicized motor vehicle accidents of the year, a truck driver was seen dragging a sedan up Cajon Pass. The incident was caught on video by concerned drivers, but the truck operator apparently did not realize that he had struck another car.
